How do I know whether an Internet transaction is protected by 3D Secure?
Whether or not the Internet transaction will be protected by 3D Secure will depend on the merchant website. You can recognise 3D Secure websites by the following logo:
Internet transactions via websites that don’t display the above logo will not require you to enter an identification code. The merchant website concerned will then assume full responsibility in the event of fraudulent activities conducted via their website.
How do you determine whether the 3D Secure Internet transaction requires a personal code or a code sent via SMS?
The risk of fraud is generally low with most Internet transactions. BCC constantly monitors Internet transactions for potential fraud and conducts fraud risk assessments. If the risk of fraud is deemed low, we will only require your personal code as proof of identification. If the risk of fraud is deemed high, we will require you to enter a code sent via SMS as proof of identification. These criteria are not fixed but are adjusted to the assessed fraud risk level.
How many identification attempts do you allow?
We allow three identification attempts. If you enter your details incorrectly three times in a row, you will no longer be able to use your card on merchant websites that participate in our 3D Secure programme. Contact our Customer Service department at +32 (0)2 205 86 60 to unblock your card.
I used all three identification attempts without success. What should I do?

I prefer not to enter any personal details, such as my mobile phone number, date of birth, etc.
We require some of your personal details to be able to authenticate your transactions. Your mobile phone number is required so that we can send you an identification code via SMS for certain transactions. These details will not be used for commercial purposes and will not be distributed to the merchant website of your transaction.

I forgot my personal code. What should I do? Not a problem.
Click the “Code forgotten?” link and follow the registration procedure for a new code.
Security through a code sent via SMS
I did not receive an SMS to approve my transaction...
Check whether the last few digits of the mobile phone number on the screen are correct. If they are incorrect, you can enter a new mobile phone number by selecting “Wrong number”.
Please contact our Customer Service department on +32 (0)2 205 86 60 if the mobile phone number is correct and you still did not receive an SMS to approve your transaction.
How much does it cost to receive a code via SMS?
We will send you the SMS free of charge, even if you are abroad at that time.
What if my mobile phone number is not listed in the database of BCC Corporate?
If your mobile phone number is not listed in the database of BCC Corporate, you will need to register your mobile phone number at the time of your first 3D Secure transaction. The registration window where you can enter your mobile phone number will open automatically prior to finalising the transaction. You will be authenticated based on a number of personal questions before you can enter your mobile phone number.
What if my mobile phone number changes?
If you wish to complete a 3D Secure transaction that requires identification via your mobile phone, the last four digits of the mobile phone number to which the SMS will be sent will be displayed on the screen. If this mobile phone number is no longer in use, you can change it there and then. You will be authenticated based on a number of personal questions before you can enter your new mobile phone number.
I do not want to communicate my private mobile phone number. Do I really have to do so?
We require a mobile phone number for authentication purposes and to guarantee the highest level of security for your Internet transaction. You can compare this to the proof of ID request at the time of your credit card application. There is no harm in entering your personal mobile phone number. All 3D Secure messages are sent free of charge. Furthermore, your mobile phone number will not be used for commercial purposes and will not be communicated to the merchant.
Don’t I run the risk that these automated messages will be blocked by my mobile phone operator?
